Justin in the Barley

I’ve been using the infra-red camera quite a bit on this trip. I wouldn’t normally consider it a portrait camera and point it at people but, in this case, I just happened to be using it and turned it on Justin Balog as he crouched in a barley field taking pictures. Once I fed the file through the various tools I use to produce colour images from the orange/red mess that is the original file, I ended up with this image.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/6.7
  • Camera: CORPORATION
  • Focal length: 170mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1/180s

That is a fantastic effect! I should try to use some infra-red with some of the rice fields when they are closer to harvest. Of course have to buy an infra-red camera first…

I am just as blown away from this on the screen as I was when you let us chimp it after shooting. Might be one of my favorite IR images of a person ever.
