Air Tractor AT-502 Crop Duster

While in the Palouse, we saw quite a few crop dusters in operation. Dusting fields in other parts of the country may seem pretty straightforward but to do the job in the rolling hills of eastern Washington, the pilots really need to pull some stunts, hopping ridges and dropping deep into the valleys  while avoiding power lines and other obstacles. Several different aircraft were being used but this model, the Air Tractor AT-502, seemed to show up more often than the others. This particular plane is operated by TLC Flying of Colfax, just a few miles from where we saw him working.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/8
  • Camera: CORPORATION
  • Exposure bias: +3/6EV
  • Focal length: 550mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1/500s

Freaking sweet Dave. That should be a print hanging in their office in Colfax.
