Senate Chamber, Texas State Capitol

I used to enjoy taking pictures inside the senate chamber down at the capitol building. Unfortunately, a couple of years ago, they banned the use of tripods in the room making it more difficult to get really good shots any more. The light is good in the room but, because of the bright windows, wide angle shots really need HDR to capture the full brightness range and this needs a tripod for best results. This picture, though, is a single exposure was taken handheld with the ISO elevated just enough to prevent camera-shake.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/4
  • Camera: NIKON D810
  • Focal length: 48mm
  • ISO: 800
  • Shutter speed: 1/30s
