Curtis and the Taj Mahal

We had some international students, including one from India, visit for dinner yesterday evening so, when this photo popped up in my Lightroom “good images not on photoblog” collection, I reckoned it would be a good day to post it. This is the second oldest image I have in my collection marked for publication. It was taken back in early 2006 during a business trip to India when we managed to tag a couple of days on to do some sightseeing. If you look at the EXIF data, you’ll see that it was shot on a super-cheap point-and-shoot. I had lugged all my gear with me then, the night before we arrived in Agra, managed to fall and break my DSLR leaving me with only my backup camera to shoot one of the most amazing pieces of architecture in the world!

The light was fantastic that morning but, in retrospect, I should probably have waited for Curtis to finish taking his shot and move out of the way before I grabbed this.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/5.2
  • Camera: E4600
  • Focal length: 7mm
  • ISO: 50
  • Shutter speed: 1/40s
