Shane’s Cabin, Grand Tetons National Park

This derelict cabin in Grand Tetons National Park is often know as “Shane’s Cabin”. It appeared as a set from the classic western “Shane” but was actually the cabin inhabited by character Ernie Wright. You can read more about the various locations the movie was shot at here. We visited on the last full day of the trip when dramatic thunderstorms were rolling over the mountains.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/13
  • Camera: NIKON D810
  • Focal length: 45mm
  • ISO: 400
  • Shutter speed: 1/500s

Don’t fret, Mike – I feel exactly the same way when I look at every one of your shots!

I was at the cabin 30 years ago and forgot what road I took. It was AWSOME to look out the window, now my great grand kids are going to Yellowstone and Inwant them to go there, can you remember the name of the road to take off the main road?

When I posted this to Flickr, I added a geotag and that suggests that you take Lower Gros Ventre Rd from Highway 89. You can find that picture and the map at https://www.flickr.com/photos/14489732@N00/27721072046.
