Sunset at Snake River Overlook, Grand Teton National Park

The best sunset on our June trip to the Grand Tetons was, oddly enough, on an evening we initially thought was going to be a complete bust. Generally overcast skies and flat light had me convinced that standing by my tripod being bitten by mosquitoes wasn’t a great plan so I packed up my gear and wandered around instead. Just as the sun hit the horizon, however, the grey overcast parted and we were treated to an amazing spectacle. I quickly set up the tripod again and got about 20 or 30 minutes of shooting as the amazing colours played over the sky.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/8
  • Camera: NIKON D810
  • Exposure bias: +1EV
  • Focal length: 28mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1/4s
