While wandering around New Orleans a couple of days ago, we spent some time in Lafayette Cemetery Number 1 on Washington Avenue in the Garden District. Some of the family tombs here have been in use for a couple of hundred years and the one square block cemetery is home to somewhere around 7000 dearly departed guests.
