Let’s stay at last weekend’s Bailey-Kay Hutson bull riding competition today. I was shooting my first rodeo with the new camera and love it! The D500’s frame rate, crop sensor magnification, flicker detection and low light performance undoubtedly make it the best DSLR I’ve ever used for indoor sports. This shot illustrates one problem I need to look out for, though, namely that I can now zoom in too tightly and end up loosing things like flailing arms and hands.
For the technically inclined...
Hi, Dave. I follow your photo blog regularly and have enjoyed an impressive array of outstanding images. I must say, this one of the bull and his intrepid passenger stands out from the rest. Great action, crisp focus and depth. Wonderful image. Thanks for sharing, John
Thanks, John! I loved the expression on the rider’s face when I first saw this but I just wish I hadn’t chopped his hand off. I’m still getting used to this new camera and am probably too keen to use my longer zoom lens to it’s maximum and am tending to crop just a bit too closely.
