It was unbelievably hot and sticky out at Enchanted Rock when Mike Criswell and I visited a week or so ago. We arrived mid-afternoon and started hiking but, within 20 minutes, decided that we would both die from heat exhaustion so we retired to a German ale house in Fredericksburg for beer and dinner before returning once the air temperature had moderated a bit. By sunset, we had worked our way across Echo Canyon Trail to Moss Lake and we hung out there waiting for some good light. The sky had cleared completely and the light was disappointing but we grabbed a few shots then returned to the car park via Loop Trail, partly in the dark, with coyotes howling around us.
