Jackie Chan DC Racing Mechanic

During the main race on Saturday, I spent some time in the garage of Jackie Chan DC Racing (yes, it is that Jackie Chan though I don’t think he was there this weekend) and snagged this shot of one of the mechanics taking a breather among the spare tires in the back of the garage. I was hot and sweaty in my black photo vest but I can’t imagine how uncomfortable it must have been to be stuck in fireproofs and working in an area that was right next to the tire heaters. Each garage has a decent sized enclosed “tent” behind it which contains the tires for the race and which is heated by a couple or large space heaters. As you walk down the paddock, you can feel heat blasting from these and it makes the already-unpleasant weather even worse!

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/4
  • Camera: NIKON D500
  • Focal length: 29mm
  • ISO: 800
  • Shutter speed: 1/60s
