It’s only two more weeks until the global circus that is Formula 1 arrives back in Austin for the 2017 United States Grand Prix and I can hardly wait. F1 is unlike any of the other race weekends at Circuit of the Americas. Most obviously, it’s incredibly busy with somewhere over 100,000 people attending the events. Whereas other races draw a local and national crowd, though, Formula 1 is truly international. Hang around in any of the open spaces at the track and you’re guaranteed to bump into fans from a dozen different nations, all in great spirits, all having a good time and all eager to have you join in the fun. If you’re in Austin and have not experienced F1, treat yourself to a general admission ticket and see what you’ve been missing. Even if you don’t like the racing, you’ll get to see Justin Timberlake on Saturday or Stevie Wonder on Sunday.
I took this shot of Romain Grosjean driving for American team Haas F1 during last year’s race.
