Swirling Leaves

Our first leaf-peeping location on last month’s NxNW trip up to New Hampshire was Franconia Notch State Park and an area containing a rock formation called “The Basin” where the Pemigewasset River has carved its way through a rock formation leaving fascinating erosion patterns. Off to one side of the main attraction, though, this side stream had created a pool on top of which swirled a large number of fallen leaves and most of us found this to be a better photographic opportunity than the basin itself.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/22
  • Camera: NIKON D810
  • Focal length: 28mm
  • ISO: 31
  • Shutter speed: 30s
