High Desert Sunset

Here’s another image from one of this week’s spectacular sunsets in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This shot was taken about 15 minutes prior to the one I posted yesterday, just before the sun had set behind the mountains. Looking almost directly into the light and using a very long lens, I loved the receding layers and golden color. In case anyone is wondering how doctored this image is, the color is unmodified from the original exposure and the only processing applied is my usual basic raw file adjustment.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/9.5
  • Camera: NIKON D500
  • Focal length: 600mm
  • ISO: 100
  • Shutter speed: 1/180s
