FIRST Robotics Competition, Alamo Regional

What a weekend! The missing posts last week were due to the fact that I was down in San Antonio with our high school robotics team taking part in the FIRST Robotics Competition Alamo Regional at St. Mary’s University. Starting with a mostly-broken robot, the team fixed and refined to a point where everything worked perfectly and, in the end, gained a coveted spot in the World Championships after being awarded the Engineering Inspiration Award.

In addition to my mentor role (which, frankly, didn’t involve me doing much during the competition because the software guys have their act pretty much together already), I volunteered as the event photographer for FIRST. You can find my edit of the whole event at https://davewilson.smugmug.com/Robotics/FRC-Alamo-Regional-2018/.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/4
  • Camera: NIKON D810
  • Focal length: 15mm
  • ISO: 1800
  • Shutter speed: 1/100s
