Integrated Science Building, University of Kansas

We’re just back from a four day trip to Kansas to drop our eldest off at his new school. It was my first trip to the state and I came away very impressed by the town of Lawrence and the University of Kansas.

During our stay, I tested out a new Olympus OM-D E-M1 mark II camera that the nice folks at Olympus USA have loaned me for a few months. The loaner is primarily for motorsport use but I need some time to get used to the camera (all the controls operate in the opposite direction from my Nikons, for example) so this seemed like a good opportunity for some practice. So far, I’m pretty impressed by the small package, sharp lenses, clean pictures and decent dynamic range. No doubt you’ll see this camera mentioned in the EXIF data quite a bit more over the next few months.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/8
  • Camera: E-M1MarkII
  • Focal length: 50mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1/400s
