Lewis Hamilton, 2018 US Grand Prix

After winning the last 4 F1 races at Circuit of the Americas, and 5 of the 6 that have ever run there, Lewis Hamilton had to put up with third place in Sunday’s United States Grand Prix. With Vettel ending up in 4th, the championship now won’t be settled until next Sunday in Mexico City at the earliest.

In case it’s of interest, I didn’t have a credential for this year’s race so was shooting from outside the fence. This particular shot, and any other head-on images I post, were taken through the one peephole I know of where you can get a really good view assuming you have a long enough lens. You’ll find more hints and tips about shooting at CoTA over on my blog but, now that I read the post again, I see I haven’t updated it with this particular location yet!

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/6.7
  • Camera: NIKON D500
  • Focal length: 550mm
  • ISO: 400
  • Shutter speed: 1/1500s
