Alex Rins, Suzuki Ecstar

In a surprise finish to yesterday’s Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas, Suzuki Ecstar rider Alex Rins came from 7th place on the grid to take the checker flag. He rode an excellent race, not suffering from the mistakes that took Marquez and Crutchlow out of the race and passing Rossi in the final 5 laps, much to the consternation of the thousands of yellow-wearing fans at the track.

For the technically inclined...

Great shot! What part of the track allows this composition, given the fencing everywhere?

    Kevin,

Don’t tell anyone that I told you but there’s a magical 3’x3′ rectangle of dirt at T9 where you can see over the top of the outer fence and through the photographers’ window in the inner fence and get this shot. You’ll need a long (400mm+) lens and you’ll have to keep your fingers crossed that none of the credentialed guys are using the window but, if the stars align, you can get perfect head-on shots of the bikes as they climb the T8/T9 hill and hit the apex.
