A Memorial to Jim

I was very sad to receive an email this morning letting me know that Jim Ferrell, blacksmith at Dripping Springs Pound House had passed away on Sunday. Anyone visiting the Pound House on a weekend would likely have met Jim as he worked the blacksmith’s forge there. He was an engaging, interesting, patient teacher who loved to work with kids interested in his craft. He spent several weekends with Drew showing him the metalworking ropes and I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the spark that ignited his interest in making silver jewelry.

You can find several photos I’ve posted of Jim over the years here. This particular one was a snap taken while he was working with Drew back in 2015.

Jim, you were a gentleman and a local hero and we will miss you greatly. Rest in peace, sir.

For the technically inclined...
