Terlingua Cemetery sits in the middle of the ghost town and is a fascinating place to visit and trace the fortunes of the town and its past residents. You’ll find many graves from the early 1900s with dry stone coverings and wooden crosses like these two, but you’ll also see quite a few from the modern era. In keeping with the current vibe of the town, many of the newer graves are adorned by unusual, handbuilt memorials and yard-art-like commemorations some of which you’ll see in pictures I intend to post later this week.
