Sugar Bowl, January 1st, 2024

I posted a panorama showing the interior of the empty Superdome a couple of days ago. This is the scene during the first quarter of the Sugar Bowl match on Monday evening with 70,000 fans filling the seats.

For anyone interested in the technical details, this image was generated from 20 handheld exposures blended into 4 vertical panels which were then merged into the panorama. Deghosting was done in Photoshop with some final clean-up in Lightroom and Topaz PhotoAI. You can see the high resolution image on Flickr at https://www.flickr.com/photos/dawilson/53440124460.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/4
  • Camera: OM-1
  • Focal length: 7mm
  • ISO: 1600
  • Shutter speed: 1/1000s
