Friends dancing during the “After Dark” party at Dripping Springs Pride on Saturday, June 22nd, 2024 at Dripping Springs Ranch Park. Photographing dark dance parties is an interesting experience as you juggle exposure, try to figure out which part of the dance floor to photograph towards, guess at focus, adjust flash power levels and experiment with the best way to move the camera or zoom the lens to create interesting effects while minimizing light streaks appearing over faces. As with many similarly difficult situations, once I get a basic exposure dialed in, the secret often comes down to taking a lot of photos and crossing fingers.
