Grounded Iceberg, Cooper Bay

I’m going to stick with the icebergs of Cooper Bay, South Georgia for a few more days since I have so many shots taken there that I really enjoy. This area was full of ice that had been driven towards the island by prevailing currents and then got stuck on the shallower seabed just offshore. Navigating through the iceberg graveyard gave us great opportunities to capture images of amazing ice textures with the rugged South Georgia mountains in the background. The dramatic cloudy sky that afternoon was a bonus.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/8
  • Camera: OM-1
  • Exposure bias: +5/10EV
  • Focal length: 25mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1/250s
