We visited Trakošcan Castle during our first trip to Croatia in July, 2022. Built in the 13th century, it is considered on of the country’s best preserved castles and made for a fascinating visit. Although not visible from this angle, the castle’s position offers a glorious view across the wide valley behind it. While this is appealing to tourists today, I’m sure it was the main reason the fortification was built there in the first place.
