After Marquez’ shock fall in Sunday’s Austin MotoGP race, it appeared that fans of Valentino “The Doctor” Rossi were going to have a good day. Rossi, elder statesman of motorcycle racing, was in the lead and heading for the win when he was caught and passed by Alex Rins’ Suzuki with 3 laps remaining. Despite a valiant fight, he never managed to regain the lead and had to settle for the second step on the podium.
Given the amount of yellow and the number of “46” flags in the crowd, I strongly suspect the vast majority of racegoers left Circuit of the Americas unhappy with the result.
