iPhone Week: Chevron Tower, Houston

It’s time for something different. I’m a pixel peeping sharpness junky and love using my DSLRs and heavy lenses a lot. I also, however, carry an iPhone which I usually use to document what’s going on. Most of the pictures I take with it are family snaps but I do sometimes shoot “arty” stuff and post it to the Camera+ site. Up until now, I’ve seldom posted an iPhone shot on the blog but this week, I’ll be posting a series of some of my favourites taken over the last year or so. Everything for the next 7 days has been shot and processed exclusively on the iPhone.

The first picture was shot at my favourite downtown Houston Junction, Smith & Bell, where you can find the Chevron building and several other excellent examples of contemporary skyscrapers.

Great lines and I really like the treatment!

Nice composition, Dave. I like the “reach” upward and the monotone. I’ve done a little with iphone 4s HDR. It’s basic but works pretty good in some situations.

Thanks, gents.

Mark, as you can probably tell from the grain here, this was shot on my 3Gs. I have some 4Gs pictures queued up and they are very much cleaner than this one.
