Frost Bank Tower

I took my new toy, a Mavic Mini 3 Pro, out for a spin in downtown Austin this morning. Despite the sunrise being a dud, the light improved later and I got quite a few interesting shots in the core of downtown and from the Waterloo Park area. Here’s one of my favourites which takes advantage of the new drone’s vertical aspect ratio capability. This is the crown of the Frost Bank Tower at 4th and Congress, one of the Austin skyline’s most iconic sights. When it opened in 2004, this was the tallest building in the city but it has been surpassed by several newer skyscrapers and currently holds 5th position. The current record holder is the almost-complete tower at 6th and Guadalupe which can be seen in the background here.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/1.7
  • Camera: FC3582
  • Focal length: 6.72mm
  • ISO: 140
  • Shutter speed: 1/350s
