Too Darned Hot!

For some reason, this year’s Longhorn football home games seemed to be a lot hotter than any other year I’ve attended. I suspect this is due to the fact that, by some quirk of fate, most of the season’s games were afternoon kickoffs (previously night games seemed to be the norm) and the only home games I missed were the two night games. Regardless, I found myself having to leave the stadium early on a couple of occasions because I just couldn’t stand the heat.

I feel great sympathy, therefore, for the band players who sit in full sun, in full uniform and bake as the game goes on. It really can’t be a great deal of fun but they all do a great job despite the conditions. Here’s a member of the drumline seen during the September 20th, 2023 game against the University of Kansas Jayhawks when the air temperature topped out at a mere 96F.

For the technically inclined...
