Carrie Siding

On Sunday evening, we visited the Carrie Blast Furnaces National Historic Landmark just outside Pittsburgh and spent a few hours photographing the derelict steel works. The weather was grey and threatening rain but this turned out to be exactly what was needed to make atmospheric, gritty images and I’m very happy with the pictures I got that evening. Here’s one showing a locomotive parked just outside the huge mechanism used to load raw materials into the furnaces.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/16
  • Camera: OM-1
  • Focal length: 14mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1/4s
