We ended our trip to Alaska and British Columbia last September with a day in Seattle and, while there, we took the rather excellent Seattle Underground tour from Pioneer Square. This shot was taken from an alley into which one of the underground access stairs ascended.
While the tour was well worth taking and very much to be recommended, it had been about 20 years since I last wandered around that part of the city and I was ver disappointed to see that it has gone steeply downhill in that time. My memories of a colorful, vibrant tourist area disappeared among the boarded-up businesses and homeless encampments that now dominate.
