Meltwater

This is another view of the moulting King Penguins at St. Andrews Bay on South Georgia as seen during our visit on December 24th last year. They lined the banks of three or four meltwater streams with their feet in the cold water acting as radiators to keep them cool during the month that it takes for their feathers to be replaced.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/6.7
  • Camera: OM-1
  • Focal length: 18mm
  • ISO: 400
  • Shutter speed: 1/180s
