PPG Plaza in the centre of downtown Pittsburgh was built as head office of PPG Industries, previously know as the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company. It opened in 1984 and looks like something out of a 1990s video game with hundreds of dark plate glass facets covering multiple buildings around a couple of city blocks. The tallest building rises to 40 storeys and is topped by a collection of odd (at least in my opinion), glass crenelations. The plaza is also home to at least one security guard who told us we couldn’t take photos with our “real” cameras (phones were fine, though) for “privacy reasons” because there were “lawyers in some of the buildings”. I took this before we met him and took plenty of others from just outside their property line just because his arguments annoyed me so much 🙂
