The Business End




The first stage of the Saturn V rocket was powered by 5 enormous F-1 liquid oxygen/kerosene rocket motors providing a total thrust of around 7.5 million pounds. The combined fuel and oxidiser flow for all five engines was approximately 200,000 gallons per minute, enough to drain your average residential swimming pool in about 6 seconds flat.
