I’m loving playing with the fast prime lenses I treated myself to last year. Top of the list is the superb Nikon 50mm f/1.4D which I used to take this picture in the Driskill Hotel just before Christmas. It’s superbly sharp at its middle apertures and wide open, as seen here, the ability to isolate a subject from the background is superb. At the widest apertures, the lens is a bit soft but I rather like the glow that this gives the result.
