“The Bean” Millennium Park, Chicago

Back to Chicago for a while. Here’s another shot of the Bean (or the Cloud Gate as it is apparently correctly known) reflecting the city skyline lights at dusk. This was shot during my evening photowalk with Charles Dastodd who kindly showed me some superb photo locations in the downtown area.

Nice shot of the ‘bean’! Do I detect the photographer in the image? I see a shadowy figure and a tripod. Or was that a different photographer?

Thanks, gents.

Jim – the photographer in the image is actually Charles Dastodd who was kindly showing me around that evening.

This is brilliant Dave. Never seen this perspective of the bean before. Well done (and may I say, a fine way to avoid a photographer’s reflection – if that is indeed another photog 😉 )

I didn’t think the angle would be quite right to capture you, but with the curve of the bean I wasn’t sure.

Jacob, I was trying to shoot some angles I hadn’t seen before but, that said, nothing I took is particularly original. Looking back, though, I wish I had a decent shot of the whole thing just to complete the set. Charles took a great one as I was shooting this and it made the Flickr home page!

Jim, I spent a fair bit of time avoiding my own reflection but I do appear in some of the brackets I haven’t processed yet. Keep an eye open for these soon.

Toni – thanks!

Great shot of an oft-photographed sculpture. You’ve inspired me to revisit my archives and post my own Chicago blog entry. Well done.

Great colors on this one. I think I like the composition of the others better, but love the colors and processing on this. The whole series is great. Nice job.
