Dauntless Under Restoration, USS Lexington

Continuing yesterday’s cockpit theme, here a rather different and rather less manipulated shot. This shows a Douglas SBD Dauntless dive bomber which is currently undergoing restoration on the hanger deck of USS Lexington. The early morning sun was shining through an opening behind the plane and painting it with the most gorgeous, golden light so I grabbed a few images as the boys were gathering for their morning flag ceremony.

The colour here is straight out of the camera and the only significant photoshopping done here was to remove some distracting objects from the wall behind the aircraft.

Thanks Eden. The light was amazing for about 10 minutes. There are 2 more shots queued up for later in the week taken within that period so look out for them too.
