If you are a waterfall fan, Yosemite is the place for you! The only problem when shooting them, though, is that they tend to be really high, making it very tricky to capture the whole waterfall in a single frame unless you are a very long distance from them.
Yosemite Falls drops over 2400 feet in two cascades. This shot shows the lower of the two and the river flowing from the base. The temperature here was surprisingly low compared to the parking lot only a few hundred yards away, presumably caused by the refrigerating effect of the very cold meltwater flowing by.
The warm colour temperature in this shot is courtesy of my B&W ND1000 filter which introduces a pretty obvious colour cast. This is very easy to correct either by using automatic white balance or later in Lightroom, but I rather liked the tone here so left the picture as it came from the camera.
What an interesting view of the falls and one I haven’t seen before! Nicely done Dave!
