Partial Solar Eclipse over UT, Austin

I’m surprised to see that I didn’t post this a month ago when I shot it. It ended up on Flickr but not here.

This image shows the partial solar eclipse of May 20th, 2012. It was taken from the City of Austin works department yard near 183 and Airport which gave us great views of the horizon but, unfortunately, meant that we were somewhat too far north to capture the sun setting behind a really recognisable building (the Capitol dome or UT Tower, for example). My partner in crime that evening came up with a Photoshop-based solution to the problem, though.

Yeah, the building’s ho-hum, but the eclipse is quite amazing! Really like the shot Dave!
