Freedom Tower I

The day I took yesterday’s picture, Nikki and I were walking from a subway station towards the 9-11 Memorial. We had hoped to take a look at the memorial itself but, on arriving, discovered that you need a ticket and that there was a 30 minute wait for the next available visiting time. Due to other plans, we had to give it a miss but I’m sure we’ll go back and be a bit more prepared next time.

While we didn’t get to see the memorial up-close, we did get to take a look at the Freedom Tower currently under construction at the World Trade Center site. The building is already impressive but is going to be spectacular when completed. While I tend to think the world would be a better place if the original twin towers were still standing there, given that they are not, this new tower is a pretty impressive replacement and a testament to the resilience of New York.
