Peak of the Park

The view from Moro Rock in Sequoia National Park is pretty breathtaking. You stand on this high promontory on the edge of the mountain range and look out across a wide, deep valley. The day I visited, the valley was full of cloud which lapped against the mountains like slow-motion ocean waves. It was mesmerising to watch.

Climbing Moro Rock isn’t for the faint-of-heart. Although the elevation is only around 7000 feet, the staircase cut into the rock is long and, for those of us who don’t like heights, rather exposed-feeling.
