Scott Hanna & Tony Marinello, Longhorn Band

Tony Marinello (l), Assistant Director of the Longhorn Band, shares a joke with Scott Hanna (r), Associate Director of Bands, during a lull in the Longhorn football game on September 8th, 2012.

The 400 member band plays throughout each game, adding musical punctuation after plays and celebrating scores. Conducting duties are spread between three or four faculty members and the drum major with the “on call” conductor perched on top of a large ladder and using flash cards and hand signals to indicate to the band what needs to be played next.
