Smith & Bell, Downtown Houston

I taught the first of two HDR workshops at Precision Camera yesterday and it seemed to go well. The students produced some great images after our shoot at the capitol and no-one fell asleep or left too early, both usually good signs 🙂

In the section of the class where we talk about creating realistic HDR images, I used this image from downtown Houston and, although I’ve posted a couple of similar ones before, I liked this monochrome version enough to post again.

Processing on this was done using Photomatix Exposure Fusion with monochrome conversion in Nik/Google Silver Efex Pro.

Thanks, guys. I love this junction and try to shoot it whenever I can get to downtown Houston. I still need to get it with the fisheye when there’s a decent sky behind the buildings and I also want a similar shot at blue hour. Some day…
