La Grande Arche de la Défense

The ultra-modern La Défense is an area of Paris that I love, chock full as it is with a fabulous collection of contemporary architecture. It sits on a continuation of the line between the Louvre and the Arc de Triomphe like an architectural balance to the rest of the classical structures in the old part of the city.

At it’s furthest west point, La Défense is home to this huge arch (an office building) which mirrors the Arc de Triomphe which can seen in the distance when standing on the steps in front of me in this shot.

Cool shot. I was in this building this week. The taxis definitely get lost here!

Thanks, Kris. I love La Defense – so different from the Paris that people tend to think of. I’ll be posting a few more pictures from that area over the next week or so.
