Galleries Lafayette is the premiere department store in Paris and occupies 3 large buildings right in the heart of the city (behind Opera Garnier in case you are wandering around looking for it). From a shopping point of view, I was most taken with the food department where they have, among other things, a beautiful tea and spice section which includes an entire display of different loose salts sold by the kilo.
Architecturally, the most famous feature of the store is this glass dome which can be found directly above the perfume department. From a previous visit, I was sure that the glass was blue but it seems this may just have been a trick of the light (or a white balance difference?) because it’s most definitely white during the day.
