Herring Gull, Tobermory

This herring gull (Larus argentatus) was nesting right next to a fish and chip stand on the busy fishing pier at Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. Given the number of chips sitting on the nest and the fact that there were two or three eggs there too, it seems that that’s a good place for a gull to set up home.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/9.5
  • Camera: NIKON D700
  • Focal length: 250mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1/500s
