Sunrise off Acadia National Park

I was quite surprised to discover that Bar Harbor, Maine is a popular destination for cruise ships. On the morning we were shooting sunrise at Thunder Hole, a particularly large ship was heading to the port and passed right in front of us.

This is my fifth or sixth post from last weekend’s trip now and I just realized that I’ve been remiss in not giving a shout-out to the other members of the group. If you’re looking to expand the list of photoblogs you follow, you could do a whole lot worse than add these talented guy’s sites to your collection.

  • Bob Lussier (if you want to photograph mills in Massachusetts, Bob’s your man)
  • Mark Garbowski (who brought the Grey Man with him from New York)
  • Justin Balog (he of boundless energy, even more creativity and The Photo Frontier)
  • Chris Nitz (toy photographer extraordinaire, maker of awesome camera straps and beginner unicorn hunter)
  • Len Saltiel (new addition to the group this year – a gentleman, scholar and all-round good bloke to hang out with)
  • Armando Martinez (second half of The Photo Frontier and Photoshop master)
  • Scott Wyden Kivowitz (prolific blogger and Photocrati guru)
  • Rick Louie (shooter of wonderful Colorado landscapes and leader of workshops)
  • Mike Criswell (you probably know him as “Theaterwiz” and have seen his amazing “Empress” pictures)

Joining us for part of the trip, we also had

  • Mike Tully
  • Steve Perlmutter

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/5.6
  • Camera: NIKON D700
  • Focal length: 300mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1/125s

[…] fantastic. Look carefully in the distance and you’ll see the cruise ship which appeared in this image a few days ago. In case you’re interested, all I did between these two shots was change lens […]
