Sunset from Cadillac Mountain

I’m back to colour today so here’s an extremely colourful image from the Acadia National Park trip. Cadillac Mountain is the highest point on the north eastern US seaboard and, from Spring until Autumn, offers the earliest sunrise view in the country. We actually tried to go there for sunrise on one morning but it was fogged in so we had to make do with sunset instead. As you can see here, the view at sunset is definitely not something to be complaining about!

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/13
  • Camera: NIKON D700
  • Focal length: 300mm
  • ISO: 400
  • Shutter speed: 1/250s

I’ve filmed many sunrises here but never a sunset.
It’s been far too many years since I’ve been here.
I’ll have to remedy that soon.

Love the depth of the hills as they recede away from the camera. Beautiful shot!

Thanks, Kevin. This was certainly a great location for sunset and, given the elevation, I’m sure sunrise is fantastic from there too.
