House of Representatives, Texas State Capitol

The Texas Legislature meets every two years and it’s back in session this week. Delving through the archives, I came up with this image taken from the gallery of the House of Representatives chamber a few years ago. Getting into the gallery is tricky for those of us with day jobs because it’s only open during the week and, if my memory serves me correctly, is locked every night at 5:30 or 6:00. On this occasion, I was shooting with David Nightingale (he’s the blur on the far left of this shot) midweek so the place was open and we had the gallery all to ourselves.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/9
  • Camera: NIKON D700
  • Focal length: 15mm
  • ISO: 200
  • Shutter speed: 1s
