Float Planes at YWH

Victoria harbour has the distinction of hosting the second highest daily number of float plane landings and take-offs in the world, beaten only by Anchorage, Alaska. It also boasts one of the only totally maritime airports, Victoria Harbour Seaplane Base Airport, with code YWH. Our harbour tour guide told an amusing story of a time when an official in Ottawa became rather confused when he received a request to close the airport due to whales on the runway.
