Seal Watching

An inquisitive harbour seal keeping watch from the water at Fishermans Wharf in Victoria, British Columbia. Four of five of these seals live in the harbour and seem to survive quite nicely on a diet of fish fed to them by visitors. Our kids visited a couple of times and were delighted to spend their holiday money on sardines or anchovies in mostly-successful attempts to entice the seals closer to the dock.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/8
  • Focal length: 300mm
  • ISO: 400
  • Shutter speed: 1/750s
