Grand Tetons Moose

By the end of the Grand Tetons trip, I was sure that I was some kind of wildlife deterrent. Whenever I was in a vehicle, we missed seeing animals, yet, as soon as that vehicle split from the others, everyone else seemed to stumble upon some interesting creature (I’m not going to mention Bob & Rick’s Grizzly). Thankfully, this jinx lifted on the very last day when, on our way back to the hotel to pack following our final sunrise shoot, we spotted a telltale group of cars abandoned by the side of the road and pulled up to see what was going on. In this case, a bull moose was feeding on a small island in the middle of the river so long lenses were quickly unpacked and we grabbed a few pictures.

For the technically inclined...

  • Aperture: ƒ/6.7
  • Camera: NIKON D810
  • Focal length: 600mm
  • ISO: 800
  • Shutter speed: 1/500s
